IS VEG OPEN 24 HOURS?

Yes, all VEG locations are open all the time – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – even on holidays and weekends to care for pet emergencies.

DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?

At VEG, we don’t take appointments, because we deal with emergencies. When the unexpected happens, call us or walk in to your nearest VEG location 24/7 for immediate care.

HOW DO I KNOW IF IT’S AN EMERGENCY?

CAN I GO TO VEG FOR URGENT CARE?

WHERE CAN I TAKE MY PET BIRD OR EXOTIC PET IN AN EMERGENCY?

VEG is skilled to handle emergency care for avians, reptiles, and all types of exotic pets.

DO I HAVE TO CALL BEFORE COMING IN?

Though you can just walk into any of our 24 hour hospitals, we recommend calling first so we’re familiar with the situation when you come in.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT VEG?

When you take your pet to VEG, you’ll be seen by a veterinarian right away, even before filling out paperwork. We’ll even meet you at your car if you need help bringing in your pet. No waiting in the lobby; you stay with your pet the entire time, even if surgery is involved. And yes, we’re pet lovers, but we’re people-friendly too! We’ll openly discuss diagnosis and treatment options. And we always make sure the pet patient and pet parent are as comfortable as possible.

My first visit here was regarding cremation arrangements for my soul dog. The entire team handled our interaction with grace, patience, and empathy for my loss. My second visit was this week with my 3 month puppy who had been injured by another dog. There were familiar faces from my previous visit, and again, the entire team was kind, understanding, and knowledgable. Dr. Blutinger tended to Bean Burrito (my puppy) with undivided care and concern. He answered every smart or dumb question I had with patience and worked with me to develop a treatment plan that was realistic served the overall well-being of sweet Bean. Though you never want your furry family members to need a hospital, this is the absolute best place to come if ever needed. Mogging on you all by attaching a photo of Bean because she is the most adorable creature on the planet.

We had an amazing experience. They saved my elderly dog’s life after she ingested a large piece of beef collagen bone (PSA- they are not that highly digestible!). We were there on a busy holiday weekend, but they were fully staffed and the care we received was excellent. Everyone- the front desk staff, the techs, the nurses, and the vets- were so caring and worked together collaboratively to make me feel like they were running a well-oiled machine. They were technically great with my dog, and very kind to my husband and I when we were faced with very difficult decisions about her care. They were transparent and pretty fair about the pricing. Besides the great medical care my dog received, the little things like how the tech that cleaned up my dog after the X-rays (we saw she hadn’t been cleaning her backside properly due to arthritis) and how the awesome nurse anesthetist clipped my dogs nails after her surgery (my dog won’t let us) showed me how much these people love their job and how much they care! Special thanks to Drs Kingsmith and Pardo- you saved my baby :)

just recently visited and thought i’d also share my experience ! me and my family live in the bronx and it’s very difficult to find a vet who can take care of avian animals because they are always never available, but here at veterinary emergency group they did an excellent job at taking care of our bird lila. i really liked how the staff was gentle and nice , there wasn’t any long wait times , i also think that their prices are very reasonable compared to other vet places. i would definitely recommend coming here to anyone who’s in need of help with their pets, everything was very fast and taken care of easily.
