HOW DO I KNOW IF IT’S AN EMERGENCY?

WHERE CAN I TAKE MY PET BIRD OR EXOTIC PET IN AN EMERGENCY?

VEG is skilled to handle emergency care for avians, reptiles, and all types of exotic pets.

DO I HAVE TO CALL BEFORE COMING IN?

Though you can just walk into any of our 24 hour hospitals, we recommend calling first so we’re familiar with the situation when you come in.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT VEG?

When you take your pet to VEG, you’ll be seen by a veterinarian right away, even before filling out paperwork. We’ll even meet you at your car if you need help bringing in your pet. No waiting in the lobby; you stay with your pet the entire time, even if surgery is involved. And yes, we’re pet lovers, but we’re people-friendly too! We’ll openly discuss diagnosis and treatment options. And we always make sure the pet patient and pet parent are as comfortable as possible.

Last week, after getting home from an evening event, we noticed our 17-year-old Chiweenie acting weird. To save the gore, it was apparent in the next couple of hours that he was declining very fast. Knowing he would not make it through the night and fearing him being in pain, we looked for an open overnight vet, VEG came up and had a really good reputation, and I’ve heard of them before from other friends and colleagues. Not too far away (Pflugerville) so we drove over to the Arboretum at 1 AM. My wife was afraid of saying goodbye to our old man in a sterile room with a metal table… We walked in and it’s a very different experience! Everything is right in front of you. They knew we were coming in, ushered us into a quiet room with two chairs and a shag carpet and dim lights. It was extremely comfortable and inviting and calm. Caitlin was our technician that evening, she was an absolute rockstar! Very sympathetic and professional. Even though we’ve experienced a loss with a close friend’s dog, they still made sure we understood everything that was coming ahead. They gave us plenty of time to say goodbye and we’re very supportive during the process. When we were ready, the doctor came in and visited with us and put our old man to rest. He lived a good, long life, outside of expiring very quickly that evening, this is the best possible way for him to have gone out. VEG provided and unparalleled experience in our time of loss and grief. They deserve 11 stars!

We had an excellent experience at VEG ER with our Loki. The team was careful, thorough, and detail-oriented throughout the visit. They clearly explained everything, and never tried to upsell us on unnecessary tests or treatments. They had all needed testing and diagnostics in-house and able to be done that night. They diagnosed the issue and provided the medicine needed to resolve it. I would absolutely bring him back if we ever need emergency vet care again.

We’ve always had great experiences here but really appreciate Dr Wilson seeing our Milo, a blind and deaf husky, for some ongoing tummy troubles. On a stormy night the Dr showed concern for safe travel for our fosters and once onsite outlined the plan, again taking into consideration the late hours of the fosters. He was easy to talk with and ask questions to & very knowledgeable. Just a really great experience overall plus he showed a lot of consideration for our rescue funds. Dr Wilson stands out but we find every experience at VEG to be similiar, filled with compassionate, knowledgeable people who care about pets AND the people who are taking care of the pets. Milo shown here snoozing away while waiting on his test results.
