VEG Emergency Vet in Burlington, Vermont

I appreciate everyone there yesterday that help with are dog they where wonderful we had to put are two year old Pitt bull down he got very sick there was nothing we can do I love that they worked with us and let us take are time and say goodbye to our sweat boy they were so gentle and caring with him throughout the process also I can’t thank you guys enough this is gonna be hard here on out he was just a puppy 2 years old but I know he’s gonna be in a better place and not be in pain or be sick anymore I wish we caught it sooner and was able to help him but what he had was rapid thank you guys so so much for everything

Me and my partner had a wonderful experience with all the staff here. Their kindness and experience was extremely helpful for us when we weren’t sure what was going on with our dog. Dr. Yogo is an incredible doctor and I’m so incredibly grateful for everyone here and all their generosity.

My daughter's cat Ash had passed a blood clot and bled into the next day. Her gums were pale and she became more lethargic. I called around and went to VEG because they offered payment plans so I had some hopes of being able to afford it more than other places. My daughter and I brought her there an hour and 15 minutes from our house. The second we got there the staff came right up to us took the cat and did what they had to, initially placing her into an oxygen chamber. They handled her so well and delicately and had the utmost patience with her and us and everything they were dealing with. The doctor (I believe it was Dr. Pope but I could be wrong), was so amazing, kind, patient, compassionate, and extremely understanding of the entire situation. She laid out the bill before hand with the costs so I knew how much things would be, she went over options, and when the cats labs came back, she filled me in on everything including the costs. She was even surprised at how sick our cat actually was. Initially for ash, euthanizing her was what was best for her since she was critically ill. The doctor showed so much compassion and empathy when she told me that it would be 10k for all the transfusions she would need, along with the fact that she may never recover or even get better, and that it was okay and completely understandable to choose euthanasia and that she would fully support it. She told me she was going to get the comfort room ready, so I went to wake up my 17 year old who had taken a nap in the private rooms they have for families while their pets are being cared for, they include futons pillows and blankets. Once we got to the comfort room there was a blanket on the table and we had the cat on it who snuggled onto my daughter the entire time. She eventually laid her head on my daughter's shoulder and my daughter looked at me telling me she thought the cat was ready. It was so heartbreaking to see her just so defeated. It hurt more to know that her brother she has been bonded with since birth will have to continue without her. He was there when she was laying down under the table all day and he was meowing the whole time she was gone. I didn't know if I would have the time before she passed away because of her sickness to go and get her brother to bring him to see her so he could understand, so they told us we could take the towel she was wrapped up in home to him so that he would understand. But the thought of him having to live without her is so unbearable. My heart is broken for them both and this has been extremely difficult. The staff at veg made everything so much easier in the process of having to put her down. They are phenomenal and some of the most compassionate people I have ever met. Even allowing my daughter to go outside with them to take a dog out who had just had surgery because she wanted to. You won't ever find a better place and I highly recommend when you have something extremely difficult going on with your pet in an emergent situation, 100% choose them. They also do payment plans to help with the situation and make sure you do what you can financially as a best route for your pet and not doing unnecessary things just to have to pay a ton. The prices are high but it is an emergency vet and it is expected. They also have couches with pillows in the large lobby area when you walk in (the main area) by the kennels and tables so you have a place to stay right by them if you don't want to stay in a private room away from them. They were amazing! Thank you so much to everyone that worked at veg in south Burlington VT on Sept 17 830pm - Sept 18 around 1230am. It meant the world to us!
